Sulforaphane - your unpronounceable best friend

Did you know that an amazing discovery in 1992 (I believe by a team at John Hopkins University and also in England) showed us that by eating cruciferous vegetables as raw as possible (i.e. Broccoli, Spinach, Kale, Cabbage etc but especially Broccoli in its sprouting form) meant that when we chewed these plants a change happened in the chemical compounds of the plants.


This means that we can benefit from a compound known as Isothiocyanate. This compound helps us with gene activation which can specifically protect against some cancers. So make sure you include raw green vegetables in your meals daily! Try adding a little lemon juice of vinegar to them to enhance taste.
